“Giving books and people a second chance”

What we do

Used Books

New titles added every day!
Our book sourcers work hard to find great deals on new and used books so you’ll find something new to you on our shelves each time you visit. Our little downtown shop is staffed with people ready to help you find your next great read.

Second Chances

We believe that everyone deserves a second chance – books and people included! Therefore, we work with Benevolence Farm and Sustainable Alamance to help create opportunities for individuals who are working to improve their lives after returning from prison. We also support Saxapahaw Prison Books.

Building Community

From community events to volunteer opportunities, engaging conversations and monumental occasions, we strive to enhance the bonds that make Burlington, NC the place we love to live. Meet local authors, learn something new, host your event, or just hang out in our unique bookstore.

Can a used book store change our community?

help us find out.

Join us on our journey to build Burlington into a community that embraces connection, literacy, and second chances.

Take advantage of our generous trade-in program.  Bring us your gently used books and trade them in for store credit.

Books brought into our store for trade-in don’t have to be perfect.  Most books with regular use will have wear.  “Like new” books can have some shelf wear or age even if they’ve never been read.  Bring us your books and let us be the judge.  Supply and demand often means an “Acceptable” condition book is a great addition to our inventory and will make another reader ridiculously happy.

choose a unique space for your next event: persnickety books!

We share our building with The Chill Place Coworking Space. Our gorgeous upstairs book loft is available for rental for your next event. Birthday parties, meetings, baby showers, photo shoots – share your vision with us!

Volunteers make it happen!

If you’re the kind of person who loves books and loves making a difference, we want to hear from you! Our volunteers make it possible for us to donate books to local organizations, support teachers in building their classroom libraries, and expand our support to our partner organizations, Sustainable Alamance and Benevolence Farm. In addition, our volunteers earn $10 of store credit per volunteer hour! Click the button to learn more about this opportunity and to sign up!
